The camping trip to Carr Lake was discussed today and duties were assigned to different patrolmen for the next camping trip.

We need to make sure we have enough equipment to cook our food this time. This was overlooked on our last camping trip. I can bring a stove, some wooden spoons, a mixing bowl, a liquid measuring pitcher, a spoon to pour the batter, a spatula and an ice chest.

We need more time to discuss the menu so that I can assign who brings what grub. John said that the time was too short when he was the Grub master.

Welcome back Matthew, we missed you.

(thoughts from a “Big Person”)
Two of the things that Jon was encouraging you (as a patrol) to develop were a Duty Roster and a Menu Plan with needed equipment.

The duty roster would show who was responsible for what task for which meal. Menu plan would have been helpful because in addition to the food, it would also list the equipment needed for preparing the food. For instance, Boiled Bag Eggs. You would need a pot to boil them in. You would need a stove. A way of lighting the stove. A table to put the stove on and for preparing food. If it is a small table, then possibly two. From the list of equipment needed, you can then develop a list of who is supposed to bring what.

For the food, you should have a quantity for each item. Boiled Bag Eggs again. Would you want 1 or 2 eggs per serving? How much Potato & cheese? How many people will be there? On the food assignment we did, we tried to break it down so that everyone spent about the same amount of money. (Plus or minus)

You guys will learn about Planning and being prepared. Hey, I am sort of new to this scouting thing and I am also learning along with you. The important thing is to have fun.

The second is to not keep making the same mistakes too often.
